Network+ CERTIFICATION

NETtech is designed for the Network+ Certification program, an industry-wide, vendor-neutral program developed and sponsored by CompTIA. Network+ has been accepted by the following networking vendors:

  • Novell ® accepts the certification exam in place of their Networking Technologies exam for all Certified Novell Engineer SM (CNE ® ) candidates.
  • Lotus accepts Network+ as a certification that meets the networking competency requirement for Lotus's CLP Domino Messaging Administrator R4 certificatio.
  • Network+ is an elective in Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) credential

This course is designed for students who have completed the Graymark Commander course, or have equivalent experience. The classroom should be equipped with Commander Trainers or equivalent IBM-compatible PCs With Windows XP Professional.

The NETtech Training Program accomplishes its objective through five interrelated elements. Instructors need Purchase only those packages needed, permitting instructors to use existing IBM-compatible hardware and Software or existing Novell or Microsoft client/server licenses. The five elements are:

STUDENT TRAINING PROGRAM

The Student Training Program takes your students by the hand and leads them in a clear, concise manner through the Course. The Program consists of:

  • 56k FAX/Modem with Voice

STUDENT INSTRUCTION MANUAL

The Student Instruction Manual is comprised of three key elements:

The Student Manual is supplied in a 3-ring binder and on a CD-ROM. Reference Text Icons are used throughout the Manual to direct the student to read selections from the texts.

Data Communications

Students gain real-world, hands-on training in the important foundational aspects of data communications including:

Peer-to-Peer Networks

Students perform critical tasks including:

  • Configure and install a Network Interface Controller (software& Jumpers, coax & UTP)
  • Install and configure NIC drivers
  • Install and use Windows XP as a peer-to-peer network
  • Use MS-DOS Utilities

Client/Server Networks

NETtech provides students with experience working on a real-life client/server network. Don't let your students Work on a customer's network without hands-on training! With NETtech, students:

  • Install and configure a Windows server 2003 & client
  • Install and use an Ethernet Switch

HANDS-ON LAB EXERCISES

Seventy-five lab exercises help students to quickly and effectively become knowledgeable and skilled in the Essentials of data communication and networks. The Instructor's Guide contains a correctly completed copy of each Exercise, making it easy to check a student's work.

Students gain experience in troubleshooting hardware and software through exercises using student-transparent, instructor-inserted faulted parts and procedures. The faulted parts package includes the following:
